A city and a forest, surrounded by a wall. Why would there be such a thing?
One way in, but no way out.
The city was once a bustling, energetic place. But one night, during a storm, a strange stone fell from the heavens and landed in the center of the city.
Instantly the Great Transformation began. The city and an area of 500 square miles around it was affected by the strange stone, that disintegrated upon hitting the ground. Every human living withing the area was transformed into beasts that reflected their very souls. It was painful though, and many did not survive the transformation into their new forms.
Other found this life was unbearable, and could not handle their new selves. They perished quickly.
Word of the cursed city spread, and the fear of it spreading caused the country to leap into action. They built a wall around the city, containing the city and forest within.
Then the mayor of a nearby city had a brilliant idea. They began dropping prisoners into the city. They were also transformed into beasts.
For those who still managed to live, being behind the wall is an every day struggle.
